HOME BUYERS: DON’T FORGET TO FILE FOR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION

We’d like to take a moment to wish you Happy Holidays and remind you to file for your Homestead exemption if you purchased a home in 2023.

Homeowners may apply for homestead exemption on their primary residence.  You only need to apply once, the first year that you own the home.  If you purchased your first home, or moved into a new primary residence, be sure to apply before the deadline for your county (most Metro Atlanta counties have a deadline of April 1, 2024).

If you purchased a home that was the seller’s primary residence, your taxes will stay about the same if you also apply for homestead exemption.  If you miss the deadline, your taxes will go up because you will lose the exemption for 2024.

See the info below for information on your county and / or city!
